Platanus orientalis ‘Minaret’

‘Minaret’ is a compact, columnar selection of the oriental plane, named for its slender, minaret-like silhouette. Dense branching keeps the shape tight, and growth is slower than the straight species, which makes it suitable for more confined spaces.

Initially columnar, it matures to a broadly ovoid crown, reaching around 8 to 12 metres. The lobed mid-green leaves give the classic plane tree feel, with mottled bark developing as the tree matures.

Full sun in well-drained soil. Tolerant of urban conditions and pollution. A good choice for a modern street tree, a formal avenue, or a vertical accent in a large garden.
