Hypericum ‘Hidcote’

Hypericum ‘Hidcote’ is prized for its long flowering season and cheerful blooms. The plant produces masses of bright golden-yellow flowers with prominent stamens, starting in mid-summer and continuing well into autumn, often until the first hard frost.

This cultivar forms a dense, rounded shrub typically reaching 1.2 to 1.5 metres in height and spread. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and is tolerant of most well-drained soils, including poor, sandy, or chalky ground. Growth is vigorous once established, making it reliable and low-maintenance.

Prune in spring to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth; cut back hard if needed. ‘Hidcote’ works beautifully in mixed borders, as specimen planting, in containers, or as informal low hedging. It’s also valuable for late-season colour when many other shrubs are fading.
