Euphorbia amygdaloides robbiae

This woodland euphorbia catches the eye with its clusters of bright lime-green bracts from late spring into early summer. The bracts sit above neat rosettes of leathery leaves. We grow it in our Thurning perennial beds, where it spreads gently without taking over.

‘Robbiae’ forms low mounds to 0.6m tall and spreads to 1m wide over time. It prefers moist but well-drained soil in partial shade, though it copes with full shade too. From RHS trials, it handles normal to chalky soils with ease.

Let it self-seed if you like naturalising effects, or divide clumps in spring for more plants. Suits shady borders, woodland edges or containers. Cut back stems after flowering to tidy up; wear gloves for the milky sap.
