Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Pompom’

This New Zealand native brings year-round interest with its fine, almost feathery foliage and delicate honey-scented flowers that appear in late spring. The dark stems contrast beautifully with the pale blooms, making it a subtle but sophisticated choice for garden structure.

‘Pompom’ is a dwarf cultivar, typically reaching 1 to 1.5 metres in height with a neat, rounded habit. It prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. In colder regions, a sheltered spot or south-facing wall will help it thrive, as it is moderately frost-hardy.

Light pruning after flowering keeps the plant compact and encourages bushier growth. It works well in containers on a patio, as a low hedge in milder areas, or as a specimen in a mixed border where its fine texture can be appreciated up close.
