Alchemilla mollis ‘Irish Silk’

‘Irish Silk’ is an improved Lady’s Mantle, selected for more uniform habit and stronger, taller stems than the ordinary species. The frothy clusters of tiny yellowy-green flowers stand up well, rather than flopping after rain.

It forms a mound of large, softly felted pale green leaves that catch raindrops beautifully. The plant reaches around 45cm, spreading a bit wider, with the flowers arriving from late spring into summer.

Full sun or partial shade, any reasonable soil. Cut the flowers back after they fade to keep the foliage looking fresh and prevent excess self-seeding. A classic for softening the front of a border or edging a path.
