Centaurea ‘Snowy Owl’

We’ve brought Centaurea ‘Snowy Owl’ in for its fantastic foliage. The leaves are large, soft, and almost pure white, creating a brilliant contrast in any planting scheme. It forms a well-branched, cushiony mound that stays neat all season. In summer, it can produce upright, golden-yellow flowers.

This Centaurea will grow to about 0.45 metres tall and wide. It has a mounded habit and its foliage stays dense right to the ground. It prefers full sun and needs well-drained soil. It’s quite tough and adaptable, tolerating dry conditions once it’s established.

It’s a low-maintenance plant and shouldn’t need much pruning. Allow the soil to dry out a bit between waterings, as it doesn’t like to be waterlogged. It works wonderfully as a ‘filler’ in pots and hanging baskets, or you can plant it at the front of a sunny border to edge the path.
