Product information

Pinus nigra ‘Brepo’ is one of those reliable evergreens we’ve kept on our grounds for years. It forms a lovely, tight mound of rich green needles that hold their colour right through the winter months. In spring, you’ll notice bright new shoots, or ‘candles’, which add a fresh contrast to the mature foliage.

This is a slow-growing dwarf conifer, eventually reaching about 1 to 1.5 metres in height and spread. It has a naturally compact and rounded habit, so it keeps its neat shape without any help from us. It thrives in full sun and needs well-drained soil to be happy. It’s not fussy about soil type and is very hardy, coping well with wind and exposed sites.

Once established, ‘Brepo’ is very low-maintenance and drought-tolerant. It generally doesn’t require any pruning to maintain its shape. If you do want to restrict its size, you can trim back the new growth in spring. It’s a superb choice for adding architectural form to small gardens, containers, or gravel beds.
