Ligustrum lucidum ‘Excelsum Superbum’

‘Excelsum Superbum’ is a variegated form of Chinese privet with large glossy leathery leaves, boldly splashed green, yellow-green and creamy-white. One of the brightest evergreen trees in the privet group, giving real impact all year.

Panicles of scented creamy-white flowers open in late summer, followed by clusters of small dark berries. Forms a large upright evergreen tree or shrub, eventually 8 to 10m tall, with a tendency to hold its foliage low to the ground.

Plant in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun for brightest variegation. Tolerates a range of conditions including coastal sites and urban pollution. Clip if needed to maintain shape.
