Product information
We’ve found ‘Salinero’ to be a reliable and compact lily, one of the first of the Asiatics to flower for us here on the nursery. The flowers are a deep, dramatic red with even darker centres, held on strong stems with glossy green leaves. They look you right in the eye.
This is a shorter lily, reaching about 45cm in height, so it’s ideal for containers or placing near the front of a border where it won’t get lost. It prefers a spot in full sun or partial shade and needs well-drained, fertile soil. Like most lilies, it appreciates having its roots kept cool, so a good mulch is a great idea.
Once the flowers have faded, just remove them to stop seed pods from forming. Let the stems and leaves die back naturally in the autumn to feed the bulb for next year’s show. They’re a straightforward and rewarding choice for adding a block of intense colour in early summer.
